Adoption and Zombies

The Setting
I want to say it was the early 1900's. My sister and I were in this big town, where we lived, walking along with our mother. Of course, it wasn't our real mother. It was the lady who adopted us. She was mean, and abusive, and basically kept us as slaves/punching bags.

Meet "Mother"
My sister and I had to escape. One day when our mother brought us along shopping (she wouldn't leave us anywhere alone... she was afraid we would escape) she got distracted by a man. We were on a bridge high above a river. They start talking and flirting and I grab my sister and we dive over the side of the bridge. Mother notices at the very last second and tries to grab us, but misses. So she pulls a little gun out of her purse and tries to shoot us. We're really, really far away, so she just misses us. We swim and swim until she's out of sight and get out of the river. She's still chasing us, so we're still running. We then come across a large abandoned building and decided that would be the perfect place to hide for awhile.

Kind of like this.
It looked big enough to hide in, and broken down enough that no one would want to look in it anyway. So we walk inside, and it's full of people. But not any people. These people are zombies. Not your every day zombies though. These were basically normal people. They were infected with the zombie virus, but it hadn't affected their brains. As "normal", functioning, people, the government found it inhumane to kill them, so they stuck them in this building. They looked like zombies, some with giant chunks of flesh missing from their arms, some just decaying, but they were still so human.

And friendly
So one of them greeted us at the door and explained the situation. She gave us a little tour, and walked us through the auditorium which they had turned into a movie theater. My sister and I looked at each other and realized we had to GTFO of there immediately. So we ditched our tour guide and started looking for a way out. Problem is, this was basically a quarantined, restricted area, so all the doors were blocked off with huge red signs and locks and alarms. (Don't ask how we got in, haven't figured that out. I guess the door disappeared). Finally though, we come across a door with no locks. We decide to take a chance and open it. For whatever reason, the sound of the alarm going off switches these normalish, friendly zombies into flesh-hungry monsters. We hear them all screaming as they rush towards us and we escape again.

I woke up shortly after, with nothing resolved. I never got away, but I was never caught either. Hmm.
